Answer
Update 4 is a minor update for SWITCH 07 update 3. A lot of the most important fixes and features can be found below.
Operating systems

SWITCH update 4 runs properly on Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). All issues known at the time of release were fixed. If you still encounter problems while using SWITCH on Leopard, please contact support.
Note that some third-party applications are not (yet) supported on Leopard. |
Designing and running flows

Optimizations:
- The algorithm for displaying the number of files in each folder on the canvas (while a flow is running) is optimized. It consumes substantially less system resources, and the designer no longer hangs or crashes after long periods of monitoring.
- The implementation limit on the number of simultaneously active flows (around 50) was eliminated.
- The dashboard pane no longer leaks memory.
Fixes:
- Dragging a subfolder from the files pane into the files pane no longer crashes the designer.
- [Mac only] SWITCH properly honors operating system logout/shutdown notifications.

Tools and configurators

Fixes:
- Mail receive properly receives attachments sent from any mail client (fixing a problem introduced in update 3).
- Mail send properly includes the list of files that triggered the mail in the email body, even if the files aren't attached.

New functionality:
- The AlwanColorHub configurator support traffic-light connections and produces a report.
- The callas pdfaPilot configurator replaces the callas pdfaPilot Validator and callas pdfaPilot Converter configurators.
- The Elpical Claro configurator supports concurrent execution of multiple processes, and offers several new properties.
Fixes:
- The Adobe Acrobat Professional configurator properly splits PDF files with a large number of pages ( > 1000).
- [Mac only] The Adobe Acrobat Professional configurator properly honors the value of the $error variable in custom scripts.
- The Adobe InDesign configurator properly ignores missing images when "Fail jobs with unavailable images" is set to no.
- The Axaio MadeToPrint InDesign configurator properly works with InDesign CS3 when "Use fonts in package" is turned on.

SWITCHclient

Fixes:
- Installing SWITCHclient over a previous version of the client no longer produces spurious error messages.
- SWITCHclient can be properly installed as a regular user (i.e. without administrator rights) on all systems.
- When submitting jobs, filenames starting with a period remain unchanged (in update 3, a leading period was replaced by an underscore).
- When submitting Quark jobs from a Mac, resource forks are properly transmitted.
