Receive and send

This flow receives files through email and FTP, sorts the files based on a naming convention and uploads them to FTP after office hours.

This flow is compatible with: LightSWITCH, FullSWITCH, PowerSWITCH.

Information

Input
This flow retrieves files automatically through email or FTP. The service provider using this example flow cooperates with four ad agencies. The first one only delivers files through email; the other three upload their files to the same FTP server in a different subfolder.

Decompression
All files are gathered in one central “input” folder. Files that are not compressed are moved directly to the "All files" folder. ZIP archives are moved to the Uncompress tool. For each archive, this tool creates a job folder containing the unzipped files. In order to process these files seperately, the job folder needs to be dismantled, which is done by the Job Dismantler.

Sorting files
All files are sorted based on a naming convention. For example, files with a filename that contains "_O" are moved to the "Magazine O" folder.

Scheduling file transmission
Files are not uploaded to the output FTP site immediately. Instead they are put on hold by the File Balancer tool until after office hours (between 6 pm and 6 am). This allows the service provider to reduce network traffic during the day.

Using this flow

• Download the flow and save it on your computer: download flow
• Launch one of the SWITCH products this flow is compatible with
• Use the “Flow > Import…” menu item
• In the dialog that is shown, select the flow file

The flow now appears in the flow list. You can now examine or customize it to your needs.
