Processing images - Photoshop
This example collects images from different locations and creates 3 different versions of these images: a CMYK, a grayscale and a low resolution RGB version.
This flow is compatible with: FullSWITCH, PowerSWITCH.
Information

Input
This flow accepts input files from different sources:
- Photographer 3 supplies his material using email. The mail tool periodically checks an email account and inserts file attachments into the flow, while remembering the sender’s address.
- The other photographers upload the files to a FTP server where each photographer has his/her own subdirectory. The FTP tool periodically checks the FTP server (including subdirectories up to five levels deep) and downloads all files it finds; an appropriate “sender” email address is attached to the file depending on where it was found.
Sorting images
Incoming images are gathered in the “Originals” folder before they are copied to 3 different folders. Copies are made because this flow is set up to create 3 different versions of the same image: a low resolution RGB, a CMYK and a grayscale version.
Sending a receipt
For each incoming image an email receipt is sent to the photographer.
Processing images
Each copy of the original image will be processed in a different way using Photoshop Actions:
- Convert the image into a CMYK only version.
- Create a grayscale version of the image.
- Convert to an RGB image, downsample to low resolution and use JPEG compression.
Archiving
The different versions of the images are sent to the “Archive” folder where they will be stored in subdirectories depending on which Photoshop Action was used (CMYK/Grayscale/LowResRGB). The original images are also moved to the same archive folder but will be stored in the “Originals” subfolder.
