Set preflight profile depending on XMP data

This flow processes all PDF files through a single Enfocus PitStop Server configurator, but the preflight profile that is used depends on the Ghent PDF Workgroup Ad Ticket that is present in the PDF file.

This flow is compatible with: PowerSWITCH.

Information

When a job is dropped in the "Input" folder, it is handed over to the XMP Pickup tool. This retrieves the XMP information that is embedded in the job and stores that XMP information in the job ticket of that job.

Next, PitStop Server preflights the incoming PDF files. If you select the PitStop Server configurator in the flow, you'll see that the "PDF Profile" property has no specific profile selected. Instead a script expression is used to determine which profile should be used. This script expression looks at the XMP information and reads the value of the "destination" field (as defined in the Ghent PDF Workgroup Ad Ticket specification - for more information about the Ad Ticket, visit www.gwg.org).

If the destination is "Magazines" the "MagazineAds_1v3" profile is used; if the destination is "Newspapers" the "NewspaperAds_1v3" profile is used.

If the preflight was successful, the file and report are moved to the "Good" folders; otherwise they end up in the "Bad" folders.

Using this flow

• Download the flow and save it on your computer: download flow
• Launch PowerSWITCH
• Use the “Flow > Import…” menu item
• In the dialog that is shown, select the flow file

The flow now appears in the flow list. You can now examine it or customize it to your needs.
