Prioritize submitted jobs

Jobs are submitted through SWITCHclient; the submit point requires entry of a job priority (a number between 1 and 9) before a job can be submitted. The "Priority Queue" flow element looks at these priorities to decide which file should be preflighted first.

This flow is compatible with: PowerSWITCH.

Information

The entry point of this flow is a submit point. This allows you to submit files though SWITCHclient. When you drag a job on this submit point in the client, you will be asked to enter a priority between 1 and 9 (1=high; 9=low) before you are able to submit the job.
For more information on how to setup this connection: Settings up a client-server connection.

SWITCHclient hands over the job to PowerSWITCH, where the next step is to dismantle it. The Job Dismantler retrieves all files from the job's subfolders and allows only single files to go through (if a single file is submitted, the job dismantler passes it through unchanged).

The "Priority queue" holds all incoming files until the "PDF" folder is empty, and then passes along the file with the highest priority (which was entered in SWITCHclient).

This means that PitStop Server receives the files with the highest priority first. Files which are preflighted without any problems go to the "Good PDF" folder. If problems are detected, the preflight report is saved in the "Problem reports" folder.
