Photographers flow

The first part of this flow is used to print pictures that are sent-in by the photographer's customers.

The second part is to handle the photos which were made by the photographer: adding copyrights, changing the workspace and creating a low resolution RGB version which can be published on the photographer's website.

This flow is compatible with: FullSWITCH, PowerSWITCH.

Information

This flow contains 2 parts:

Part 1: print customer pictures

Customers can deliver their digital pictures in 3 ways:

  • Through email
The "Mail Receive" tool periodically checks an email account and inserts file attachments into the flow, while remembering the sender’s address.
  • Uploading to FTP
The "FTP Receive" tool periodically checks an FTP server (including subdirectories up to five levels deep) and downloads all files it finds; an appropriate “sender” email address is attached to the file depending on where it was found.
  • Delivering a CD
The “From CD” folder (a shared folder on the local server) is available for manual submission of files; for example in case the files are supplied on a physical medium. The “sender” email address is set to an internal operator.

All these files are collected in the input folder and a receipt is send back to the customer whenever the email address of the customer is available.

Photoshop opens all images, changes the working space and saves them in the input folder of EFI Designer. It is possible to execute any Photoshop Action on these incoming images.

EFI Designer will rip and launch a print. When the file is printed again a notification is sent to the customer saying that the images have been printed.

Both original and printed files are stored in the "archive" folder. This archive folder will contain all subfolders to reflect how and who delivered the files.

Part 2: archive photographers photo's

The work of a professional photographer is not done by just taking the photos. It might also be necessary to change the copyright information, change the color space etc.

This is what happens in the second part of the example flow:

  • The first Photoshop configurator is used to change the file info and adds copyright information (Photographers name and website).
  • The second Photoshop configurator is used to change the working space of the document.
  • The third Photoshop configurator creates a low resolution RGB version which the photographer can then use to publish on his/her website.

Different versions of the files are stored in the archive folder.
