From Creator to proofer using GMG

Different creators create PDF or PS files. Jaws PDF Creator converts the PS files to PDF files and callas pdfInspector is used for preflighting. Approved files are sent to a proofer using GMG ColorProof.

This flow is compatible with: FullSWITCH, PowerSWITCH (Windows only).

Information

Different creators create their design and save it as a PDF or PS file in their specific folder. Each creator's folder (Creator 1, creator 2, etc) has the email address of the respective creator attached to it. This email address can be used further on in the flow to send notifications back to the correct creator when a problem has been found.

Jaws PDF Creator is used to convert the PS files to PDF files. It is also possible to use Jaws PDF Server Toolkit in stead of PDF Creator which allows a different usages license wise.

callas pdfInspector is used for preflighting. If a file fails the preflight step, or a problem occurs when converting PS files to PDF files, a notification email is sent to the creator who submitted the file.

Approved files are sent to a proofer using GMG ColorProof. This is possible because you can setup GMG ColorProof to collect files from a hotfolder and to print them automatically to a proofer. There are 2 different proofers that can be used. The File Balancer will divide the files over the two proofers and will stop handing files over when one of them would stop printing.

Using this flow

• Download the flow and save it on your computer: download flow
• Launch one of the SWITCH products this flow is compatible with
• Use the “Flow > Import…” menu item
• In the dialog that is shown, select the flow file

The flow now appears in the flow list. You can now examine or customize it to your needs.
