Submit and track jobs with SWITCHclient

This flow demonstrates the use of submit points and checkpoints in PowerSWITCH. These two flow elements make it possible to use SWITCHclient to submit jobs to a flow and make routing decisions for those jobs respectively.

This flow is compatible with: PowerSWITCH.

Information

"Matt", "Frank" and "Dave" are submit points which allow these users to submit jobs through the SWITCHclient. All three of them need to have a SWITCHclient installed on their computer and have a connection with PowerSWITCH.
For more information on how to setup this connection: Setting up a client-server connection.

Henry doesn't have a SWITCHclient and submits his jobs through a hotfolder. The script element attached to this hotfolder sets the user name correctly for all submitted jobs. This step is not necessary when submitting jobs through SWITCHclient.

When files are submitted through the submit point "Dave", additional metadata is requested; the user needs to fill in a job ID before the job can be submitted.

All files are gathered in the "Input" folder and passed on to the "Visual Proof" checkpoint. The jobs waits in this checkpoint until a user approves or declines it in SWITCHclient. When the user goes through the list of waiting jobs, he/she can see the metadata information from the submit point, view or save the job. Depending on the choice the user made, the jobs are sent to one of the output connections of the checkpoint.

The next checkpoint displays static metadata derived from the job and offers the user one or more possible output paths for a job: Create low-res, Store in DAM, Create proof.
