Routing Jobs
To process jobs accurately, it's necessary to be able to route them to the correct processes. SWITCH employs a variety of filters to accomplish this task.
| Required tools | ||
| SWITCH | All flavors of SWITCH can implement this task. | |
| Other tools | All tools necessary for this task are built into SWITCH; no extra tools are necessary | |
| Time savings | ||
| The ROI calculation assumes this task will be used for all jobs, and that 1 minute is saved per processed job. | ||
More Information
File type
Routing jobs can happen on file type so that each job can be send to the correct tools to process it further. SWITCH can look at the extension of files, but also at their Mac type and creator codes.
File name
When needed, jobs can be routed based on their name using simple file name patterns or more complex regular expressions.
Variables and scripting
When more complex job routing is required variables or scripting can be used to route jobs. Variables are available in all flavors of SWITCH, scripting only in PowerSWITCH.
Example Flows
The following flows present examples of how jobs can be routed into flows:
- Routing based on file type
- Routing using regular expressions
- Routing using script expressions (PowerSWITCH only)
- Routing using script elements (PowerSWITCH only)
- Routing PDF files based on number of pages using scripting (PowerSWITCH only)
