Gradual Software releases second update for SWITCH 07 product line

Maintenance update adds numerous additional features and a brand new version of SWITCHclient

Ghent (Belgium), 27 November 2007 — Gradual Software, specialist in publishing automation solutions, today released SWITCH 07 update 2, maintenance update to the complete SWITCH product line. While maintenance updates are typically small, update 2 adds over 30 additional features to the product line. It also introduces the first version of SWITCHclient 07 and the availability of a German language pack.

Fixes and new features

“We release a maintenance update for SWITCH about every two months," comments Peter Camps, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gradual Software. "Our customers appreciate that we respond quickly to any problems that they discover in production.” Regular maintenance updates also allow Gradual Software to release smaller features without having to wait for the next major update.

Update 2 delivers a host of small features that add increased productivity and ease of use, such as updates to the designer, tweaks to improve support of hotfolder applications, and more comprehensive EXIF support for images. The update also fixes a number of user reported problems in different areas of the product.

Support for additional languages

SWITCH 07, update 2 now also supports languages other than English. Through the use of separate language packs, SWITCH and SWITCHclient can be displayed in the user's preferred language. A German language pack is immediately available for download from Gradual Software's website.

Martin Werder, General Manager for Impressed GmbH, the distributor for Gradual Software in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, emphasizes the importance of support for German: “A localized German version has been one of the major requests from our customers. We are very pleased that Update 2 adds support for German to an already great product. It clearly shows Gradual's commitment to provide easy to use solutions and will help to deploy SWITCH's automation features to an even broader market.”

SWITCHclient 07

With update 2, SWITCHclient 07 is also released and offers a significant upgrade to the prior version SWITCHclient 06. Numerous performance improvements throughout SWITCHclient have made it a much more responsive product; support for secure connections (using the https protocol) make it more secure when needed. The client was brought to the same level as SWITCH 07 (for example through the implementation of filtered log messages) but also received fundamentally new features. Users can now edit jobs waiting in a checkpoint on their local system for example, and then re-submit those changed jobs to the PowerSWITCH server.

Availability

Update 2 is available immediately. Existing customers can download the update from the Gradual website (www.gradual.com).
