Prior to Gradual
Peter holds an engineering degree in electronics & computing from the University of Ghent, Belgium. He attended a number of post-graduate programs in finance, marketing and operations management, and in 2000 successfully completed the “Advanced Management Program” at the Vlerick Business School in Ghent.
During the first twelve years of his career, Peter worked at DISC and, after its acquisition, Barco Graphics (now Esko). He started as software developer and after four years joined the management team of this fast growing and highly successful high-tech company (prepress systems for labels and packaging). He served as Vice President of Operations (manufacturing and international customer service) and as General Manager for the US subsidiary.
In 1993, Peter founded Enfocus Software (www.enfocus.com) and served as its CEO for 10 years (ending April 30, 2003). He formulated and executed the company’s mission to provide powerful desktop tools for portable document formats used in publishing (focused on PDF since 1997). He took the company through several rounds of private financing, one round of venture capital investment, and a successful exit through acquisition by Artwork Systems (in April 2000). He continued to manage and grow the company after the acquisition to a run rate of nearly €8 million (yearly revenues), with a 30% plus operating income before taxes.
Peter has a deep understanding of both technology and markets, and is a strong manager capable of formulating and executing a strategy. He has been active in the publishing industry for over 20 years, is well-respected by his peers, and is known as an accomplished industry visionary.
